Mark Assaf, Chief of the Human Resources Development Section/TrainForTrade led an implementation mission which includes port experts from the Dublin Port Company and Belfast Harbour Commissioners, and a representative from the Irish Embassy of Nigeria, to Lagos from 7-11 July to meet with the officials of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). The delegation met with both government and private sector  stakeholders and discussed the roadmap and action plan for the implementation of the UNCTAD TrainFortrade Port Training Programme, following Nigeria’s membership in 2013. Mr. Assaf and the team also conducted meetings with Mr. Habib Abdullahi, Managing Director of NPA, wherein he stressed the importance of joining the Port Training Programme network to increase the competitive edge of Nigeria’s various ports. The implementation mission generated strong interest from the port community in Nigeria as seen in the article released in Nigeria’s Guardian Newspaper. As a follow-on activity, a Coaching Workshop will be organised in the second semester to introduce the TrainFortrade methodology to future trainers of NPA.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Contact:
