Training of Trainers 2023, Module 1-4, Las Palmas, Spain
The UNCTAD TRAINFORTRADE Training of Trainers Modules 1-4 took place between 12 December to 27 January 2023 for the online part and from 8-15 February 2023 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain for the face-to-face component hosted by the Port Authority of Las Palmas. A total of twenty-nine (29) representatives of eleven (11) institutions from nine (9) countries of the English-speaking network of the TRAINFORTRADE Port Management Programme (Cambodia, Cameroun, Ghana, Indonesia, Maldives, Nigeria, Philippines, Serbia, United Republic of Tanzania) completed the training. Instructors from port partners in Ireland and Northern Ireland (Belfast, Cork, Dublin) of the programme facilitated sessions during the face-to-face event. The Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) also took part in the component related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) integration in ports. Irish Aid is the main donor of the programme with the beneficiaries themselves on a cost-sharing basis. Participants complimented UNCTAD for the relevance and impact of its TRAINFORTRADE capacity building programme in the various beneficiary port communities.
