PMP Launch of Cycle 3 and Delivery of Module 1: International Trade and Maritime Transport, in the Philippines

The participants of PMP Cycle 3  and local organizing committee from the port community of the Philippine Ports Authority with UNCTAD and Dublin Port Company experts. 

In the framework of the UNCTAD Port Management Programme (PMP) and in cooperation with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) local organising committee, Mark Assaf, along with a port expert from Dublin Port Company, will deliver Module 1 of the Modern Port Management Course from 4 – 8 March 2019 in Manila. 25 middle managers (including 13 women) from the port communities of the Philippines who are enrolled in the UNCTAD TrainForTrade Port Management Programme will participate in the course.

The first of the eight training modules examines International Trade and Maritime Transport, which focuses on the important and strategic relationship of ports, shippers and shipping companies. It further reviews the factors that condition port activities that are an integral part of international trade. The module will be co-delivered by instructors from PPA who have been certified by TrainForTrade as local trainers.

Moreover, meeting with the senior management ofPPA and Cebu Port Authority (CPA) are also planned in order to discuss the PMPCycle 3 Road Map (Action Plan) for the Philippines.The Philippines is now on its third cycle of thePort Management Programme.
